What to Expect

The people I work with often arrive carrying something they have never had the chance to put down: a grief no one acknowledged, a pattern they can’t seem to break, or a quiet sense that the people closest to them don’t quite understand. Reaching out is the first step, and here is what happens from there.

Whatever your care looks like, we decide on it together. For most people, that means psychotherapy, sometimes alongside medication. As your needs change, so can the plan.

How the Work Is Held

How the Work Is Held

How the Work Is Held

Much of my work is helping people understand pain that is long-standing, complicated, or has resisted easier explanations. Through psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy, we look at how the past lives on in the present, especially in the emotional patterns that repeat and are hardest to see from the inside. Over time, that understanding grows, and with it, the freedom to live differently.

How often we meet depends on the work. Psychodynamic or depth therapy is generally held one to two times a week. We begin here, and if, together, we find that psychoanalysis is the right next step, that work is held three to four times a week. Medication management is typically held twice a month.

The work itself happens in our sessions. Between them, messaging is for booking, rescheduling, or billing, not for processing what’s come up. If you need care in a moment of crisis, call or text 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of my work. What is spoken in session stays there, with narrow exceptions required by law: risk of serious harm to yourself or another identifiable person, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or dependent adult, or a court order.

Medication can ease overwhelming emotions and debilitating symptoms, creating the space needed to engage more fully in psychotherapy and in daily life.

At your initial intake, we go over your current medications, supplements, and history thoroughly. From there, medication visits are held separately from therapy. We can also discuss medication management alone, and whether it’s right for you.
